Cozy

I’ve been trying to cultivate a cozy atmosphere, now that winter finally decided to arrive. All at once. I was enjoying the extended autumn, but it was weird seeing the lake still open and no snow on the ground in January.

As the holiday decorations came down, I replaced them with cozy items in browns and blues. Winter tones with warm textures. Twinkle lights with the coloured glass.

And I’m making warming meals, like hearty bowls of chili con carne, homemade chicken soup, and shredded cabbage rolls. I’m baking cakes, taking long hot baths, and snuggling in bed with a book. After a month of fighting the covid virus, I think these are just the January rituals I need.
